For
students considering applying to a Kansas State Board of Regents Institution
(University of Kansas, Kansas State University, Emporia State University,
Pittsburg State University, Wichita State University, Fort Hays State
University) or Washburn University, please remember that qualified admissions
standards must be met. Students may be
admitted in one of three ways:
1, Have a grade point average that puts
the student in the top one-third of their graduating
class
(varies each year, but is probably between 3.5 and 3.6).
2.
Score 21 or higher on the ACT examination.
3.
Complete the courses in the Regents Qualified Admissions Curriculum with
a C average
in those
courses. See a list of the required courses below.

English (8 semesters of regular English. Please note that some of the classes in the
English
Department have not been approved so
check with your counselor for clarification).
Math
(3 years, beginning in the 9th grade)
Science (at least 3 years,
including Biology and Chemistry or Physics)
Social
Studies (3 years, including World Geography or World
Government)
Computer Technology
(2 semesters of Computer Applications I and Computer Applications II.)
In
addition, students planning to apply for scholarships at these
institutions should be aware that some consideration will be given to students
who have completed the Regents Scholars Curriculum, which includes all of the
above classes plus the following:
Two
years of one foreign language
The
three years of science must include Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
Four
years including Algebra I, Algebra ll, Geometry and
one unit of advanced mathematics.

Yearlong
courses must be written down twice.
Students
must complete the following requirements to graduate:

semesters of English (including English 10, American Literature l, and a
senior-only
English),

semesters of math,
6
semesters of science (including 2 semesters of Biology),
2
semesters of PE
7
semesters of Social Studies (including 2 semesters of 9th grade
Social Studies, 1 semester of
Modern World History in 10th
grade, 2 semesters of American History in 11th grade, and 2
semesters
of the senior US Government options).
1
semester of Fine Arts
16 elective credits for a total of 46 credits.
