To date, LHS has collected over 106 state athletic titles dating back to 1914
when our boys basketball team won our first state championship
Our school colors are Red & Black
Our school mascot is the Chesty Lion
The current image of Chesty was created in 1946 by Liberty High School junior, Paul Coker, Jr. Liberty High School became Lawrence High School and Paul Coker, Jr. went on to become a famous cartoonist with works appearing in Mad Magazine, and on Hallmark Card products. He is the original author of the beloved "Frosty the Snowman" character. Our mascot was named 'Chesty' because he is proud of Lawrence High School and the things that it stands for.
