Heather Lawrenz is in her fourth year at Lawrence High School, Lawrence, Kan., where she advises the yearbook, newspaper and website classes. The Red & Black yearbook has won three state awards and a national Pacemaker nomination in her time at Lawrence. She previously taught at Hays High School (Hays, Kan.), where the Indian Call yearbook earned All-Kansas honors in 2000 and 2001. Lawrenz earned a journalism degree from the University of Kansas and an education degree from Emporia State University. Currently she is pursuing her Masters in Instructional Design and Technology from ESU. During the summer, Lawrenz is a public relations assistant with the Northwoods League, a collegiate wood bat league spanning Thunder Bay (Canada), Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa, handling game day photography and communications with local news agencies.
